Skype ToGo

Kind of a cool service to share. I just signed up for Skype ToGo which is a great way to get cheap international calls from your mobile. Basically you get a dial in local number to call, which then connects you to your Skype account. You still pay your carrier”’’s local call rate, but the international portion of your call is billed to Skype, so I””m paying about 10cents per minute for a local call to the dial in number, plus about 3 cents to call from there to the UK. Clever stuff.

Skype has really evolved into a killer service. Their range of packages and services makes them an essential service provider for any cost concious startup. At LiveRail we are quite literally using them for almost all our calls. Everyone has a good quality headset, and the call quality is better in most cases than a landline. Plus we have unlimited domestic calling for a fraction of what AT&T charges, and a great centralized web interface to manage everyone”’’s accounts.
